Physical Demands

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to:
- Sit and talk or hear
- Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Reach with hands and arms, climb or balance

- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 180 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include visual acuity of at least 20/100 correctable to 20/20, close vision, distance vision, normal color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
- Normal hearing in each ear
- Height and weight in proportion to size
- Ability to sit, stand, and transport self from building to building or sick or injured from building to mobile intensive care unit.
- Sufficient physical strength and stamina to bend, run, lift equipment and hoses, and crawl into small spaces in order to fight fires and perform rescue operations
- Must be able to restrain suspects
- May ride in patrol vehicle or walk for extended periods on a walking beat
