ADDRESS NUMBERS

Each property must display address numbers that are at least 3 inches tall in the front and back of the house/property. Numbers should be affixed to permanent structures such as the house/dwelling itself, garages, an adjacent fence, or on an appropriate detached sign. The address numbers should be maintained so that they are plainly visible and legible from streets, alleys, easements and fire lanes.

GARAGE SALES

No more than two (2) personal property sales shall be conducted at a residence during any calendar year. Sales shall be limited to the hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. of two (2) consecutive days. Only one sign may be displayed on premises during the sale hours. Signage at any locations remote from the sale property are not permitted. No permit is required.

ENCROACHMENTS

When tree limbs and shrubs are allowed to grow over the street, alley, sidewalk or easement they become hazardous for pedestrians and vehicles. Tree limbs should be trimmed so that there is an eight (8) foot clearance from the sidewalk to the lowest limb and a ten (10) foot clearance from the street to the lowest limb. Shrubs and bushes should be trimmed back to the pavement’s edge as not to obstruct pedestrian passage.

EASEMENT OBSTRUCTIONS

For the health and safety of your neighborhood, rear easements must be maintained clear and unobstructed. It shall be unlawful for any person to obstruct any public right-of-way with unsightly high weeds, landscape material, construction material, fences, trash, or rubbish.

UNSIGHTLY CONDITIONS

High weeds and trash is a health hazard and an eyesore. It shall be unlawful to allow weeds, brush or any unsightly matter to grow on any lot. The Town of Highland Park also prohibits dead vegetation, downed timber, trash or rubbish to accumulate or remain on any location.
