Highland Park Library will mark the close of its 2016 “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ!” Summer Reading Club with a Library Olympics program on Friday, July 29 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Prather Park, 4500 Drexel Avenue.
Children will enjoy library-themed activities, games and snacks while celebrating a summer spent accomplishing their personal best reading goals. Prather Park is located across the street from the Highland Park Town Hall at the southeast corner of Drexel Drive and Euclid Avenue.
Also, children may turn in reading logs if they have not already done so. Children unable to attend the event may turn in their reading logs at the Library through Wednesday, August 31. The Highland Park Library is located at 4700 Drexel Drive and is open Tuesday through Saturday, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
At the event, children can meet local author Richard Lentz and Roo, a miniature dachshund and the main character of the book Life’s Little Lessons by Roo, More Than Just a Dachshund. The book, best suited for children ages 9-13, reflects life through the eyes of Roo. His experiences are filled with many emotions, trials and tribulations just as people encounter and will have readers laughing and contemplating all along the way.
This event wraps up the summer event series sponsored by Christine McKenny and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. For more information about the Summer Reading Club, please visit the Library's website or call the Library at 214-559-9400.
