Answering a Citation
Court Appearance
You must appear and answer for the offense(s) listed on your citation on or before the twentieth (20) day following the date of the citation. Under no circumstances will you be able to appear, answer, or plea by phone.

Persons under the age of 16 must appear in court with a parent or legal guardian. Please see Juvenile Information for additional details.

Failing to Make Your Appearance
If you fail to appear or answer the citation with the twentieth (20) day following the date of the citation, an additional offense of Violate Promise to Appear will be added. In addition, a warrant will be issued for your arrest if an appearance is not made within 30 days of the twentieth (20) day following the date of the citation.

Pleas
You may enter a plea of no contest or guilty to waive your right to a trial or enter a plea of not guilty and request a trial on or before the twentieth (20) day following the date of the citation. Please see Entering a Plea for more information.

Moving Violation
If you received a moving violation and would like to keep the offense off of your driving record, you may request to take a driver’s safety course, or request deferred disposition. Learn more about Defensive Driving or Deferred Disposition.
If you plan on taking a Defensive Driving Course, or requesting Deferred Disposition, DO NOT make an online payment. Please contact the Municipal Court directly for payment options associated with Defensive Driving or Deferred Disposition.
