Becoming forgetful is a natural part of aging. However, knowing the signs and symptoms of dementia is essential to well-being. Dementia is the umbrella term used for many of the reasons for memory loss caused by diseases that effect the brain. Most commonly known are Alzheimer’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Dementia with Lewy Bodies, and Huntington’s Disease. Free publications will be available to anyone that wishes to take home more information about the topic.

November 7, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Authors LIVE! is co-sponsored by The Friends of the Highland Park Library, Highland Park United Methodist Church, and The Friends of the SMU Libraries.
From the New York Times best-selling, celebrated, and award-winning author of Empire of the Summer Moon comes the spellbinding, epic account of the dramatic conclusion of the Civil War.
The fourth and final year of the Civil War offers one of that era’s most compelling narratives, defining the nation and one of history’s great turning points. Now, S.C. Gwynne’s Hymns of the Republic addresses the time Ulysses S. Grant arrives to take command of all Union armies in March 1864 to the surrender of Robert E. Lee at Appomattox a year later.
Autographed books will be available for purchase before and after the program. The author will personalize his book after the program.
The 7:00 p.m. Authors LIVE! programs are free and open to the public. The 6:00 p.m. Author Reception including a signed copy of the author's book is $30 and must be reserved at least two (2) days in advance by contacting HPUMC at 214-523-2240.
