Known for his riveting trilogy about World War II and a host of other esteemed military history works, multiple Pulitzer Prize-winning author Rick Atkinson kicks off his new Revolution Trilogy with a compelling look at the first twenty-one months of the American Revolutionary War.
The British Are Coming recounts untold stories of the early conflict and presents fascinating revelations about characters such as Benjamin Franklin, Nathanael Greene, Henry Knox, and George Washington.
Autographed books will be available for purchase before and after the program. The author will personalize his book after the program.
The 7:00 p.m. Authors LIVE! programs are free and open to the public. The 6:00 p.m. Author Reception including a signed copy of the author's book is $30 and must be reserved at least 2 days in advance by contacting HPUMC at 214-523-2240.

The Town of Highland Park - Parks and Recreation Department and the Highland Park Harvey R. “Bum” Bright Library will be hosting several plein air art opportunities this summer. These programs allow adults of all skill levels to learn from accomplished artist and teacher, Anne Gunthner. Classes are limited to 12 participants each session, and reservations are required.
Anyone interested in participating is required to make a reservation for one of the three classes offered by calling the Highland Park Library at 214-559-9400. Class dates are Friday, May 31, from 9 - 11 a.m. at the Highland Park Pool; Friday, June 28, from 9 – 11 a.m. in Prather Park; and Saturday, July 13, from 2 - 4 p.m. in the Highland Park Town Services Center classroom located at 5005 Holland Ave. All materials will be provided to attendees.
