[ARCHIVED] Celebrate National Library Week

Embrace Leadership at Your Library

April 8 through April 14, the Highland Park Harvey R. “Bum” Bright Library joins libraries nationwide in celebrating the many ways libraries lead their communities through the transformative services, programs and expertise they offer.

National Library Week is recognizes the life-changing work of libraries, librarians and library workers. Libraries of all types have long been evolving to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Diverse groups including elected officials, small business owners and students depend upon libraries and the resources they offer.

Community members can develop their own leadership skills at the library, with endless opportunity to build talents and confidence through resources and programming. In addition, librarians assist patrons in using increasingly complex technology and sorting through the potentially overwhelming mass of information bombarding today’s digital society.

The Highland Park Library offers educational and entertaining materials for all ages including books, audio books, fiction and non-fiction bestsellers, downloadable books and digital magazines for mobile devices, online databases, newspapers, magazines, WiFi access, weekly story times for children, summer reading programs, and much more. Discover the many print and digital resources available from the Library to help you embrace leadership.

Highland Park Library cards are free for residents of the Town of Highland Park. The Library is located at 4700 Drexel Drive, 75205 and is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit the library online at www.hplibrary.info or call 214-559-9400.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
