[ARCHIVED] Highland Park Library Seeks Community Input in Developing New Master Plan

The Highland Park Harvey R. “Bum” Bright Library is developing a multi-year Master Plan to provide direction for future library services and broaden the Library’s appeal and resident participation. A critical part of the development is community input on the types of services, activities and content Town residents would like to see offered by the Library.

“Highland Park’s library is a gem, but we need the public’s assistance and ideas about what they would like the Library to be in the next decade and for new generations of Highland Park residents,” said Kortney Nelson, Town Librarian. “The Master Plan will expand and add to the Library’s current collections and services.”

The Library is partnering with The Ivy Group, www.ivygroup.com, to assess the Library’s current offerings and make recommendations for library services to meet 21st century expectations. In addition, the Library Master Plan will include short and long-term needs, priorities, and objectives to improve and grow the Library's programs over the next several years.

“This is a very exciting time and opportunity for the Library, and that’s why we’re asking for resident input to make sure we’re delivering what our community wants and anticipating and planning for our future needs,” said Nelson. “The Highland Park Harvey R. ‘Bum’ Bright Library is an exceptional community asset, and we are working to identify ways to make it even better.”

An online survey as well as paper copies of the survey will be available at the Library and Town Hall later this year.

The Highland Park Harvey R. “Bum” Bright Library is located at 4700 Drexel Drive. For more information on the Library, please visit www.hplibrary.info or call 214-559-9400 during business hours, Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
