The Dallas Children’s Theater staff will lead a workshop inspired by their summer production of Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale, based on the book by John Steptoe. The event, designed for elementary school age children, will be on Friday, July 7 at 10:00 a.m.in Prather Park.
This program is part of the summer event series, which is generously sponsored by Christine McKenny and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate, for the Highland Park Library’s 2017 “Build a Better World” Summer Reading Club.
Remember there is still time to register for the Summer Reading Club. After registering, children receive their reading log to keep track of the number of books they read or someone reads to them. Once children read five books they will receive a special prize. When children have read ten books and finished four creative tasks, they will receive a certificate, a T-shirt courtesy of Big Frog of Park Cities, and have a book donated in their honor to this summer’s selected recipient organization Reach Out and Read, which is an organization that gives young children a foundation for success by encouraging early literacy skills.
