April 9 through April 15, the Highland Park Library joins libraries in schools, campuses and communities nationwide in celebrating the many ways libraries are transforming their communities every day through the services and invaluable expertise they offer.
As a part of National Library Week, Dallas author Nell Taylor will visit Toddler Story Time on Thursday, April 13 and Preschool Story Time on Friday, April 14 to read her new picture book
Potatoland and the Fable of Thunder and Lightning. All story times start at 10:00 a.m. in the Library.
National Library Week is a time to highlight the changing role of libraries, librarians and library workers. Libraries of all types are evolving to meet the needs of the communities they serve. Elected officials, small business owners, students and the public at large depend upon libraries and the resources they offer to address the needs of their communities.
Libraries also offer something unique to their communities, the expertise of individual librarians. Librarians assist patrons in using increasingly complex technology and sorting through the potentially overwhelming mass of information bombarding today’s digital society.
The Highland Park Library offers educational and entertaining materials for all ages including books, audio books, fiction and non-fiction bestsellers, downloadable books and digital magazines for mobile devices, online databases, newspapers, magazines, WiFi access, weekly story times for children, summer reading programs, and much more.
Discover the many print and digital resources available to help you transform your life at the Library. Highland Park Library cards are free for residents of the Town of Highland Park. The Library is located at 4700 Drexel Drive, 75205 and is open Tuesday through Saturday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. For more information, visit the library online at

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA) and libraries across the country each April.
