The Highland Park Library and the Highland Park Department of Public Safety (HPDPS) are celebrating the 2016 “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ” Summer Reading Club with a fun interactive safety fair on Friday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Prather Park, which is located across the street from the Highland Park Town Hall at the southeast corner of Drexel Drive and Euclid Avenue.
HPDPS officers will be present to meet with children and explain the various components of public safety: fire, police, and paramedics. All aspects will be represented, and children may interact with police officers, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers and detectives. HPDPS will have a fire engine on display so children will get an up close and personal tour of firefighting and rescue equipment. In addition to meeting HPDPS officers, children will explore books about first responders and create crafts based on the books. The event is free and open to children of all ages and their caregivers.
Throughout the summer the Library will host other Summer Reading Club events, which is generously sponsored by Christine McKenny and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.
