Reading Theme Image

**In the event of rain, the program will take place in the Fire Bay in Town Hall, 4700 Drexel Drive.**

Join the Highland Park Library and the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center for a high-flying kick off to the Library’s 2016 Summer Reading Club “On Your Mark, Get Set…READ!” See different species of birds of prey during the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center’s “Raptors of North Texas” program.

Attendees will learn about raptors’ unique adaptations for hunting in woodlands, wetlands and prairies. Raptors of different species and sizes will demonstrate their capabilities. The event will take place in Prather Park on Friday, June 3 at 10 a.m. Prather Park is located across the street from the Highland Park Town Hall at the southeast corner of Drexel Drive and Euclid Avenue.

Children who wish to participate in the Summer Reading Club may register with the Highland Park Library in Prather Park the day of the event. Children unable to attend the kick-off event may register for the Summer Reading Club at the Highland Park Library. Registration starts June 3 and ends July 29. The Library is located at 4700 Drexel Drive and is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. There is no cost to register for the Summer Reading Club.

Named after the tallgrass prairie that once covered more than 23,500 square miles of Texas from the Red River to San Antonio, Blackland Prairie Raptor Center is a rehabilitation and conservation education organization, specializing in fostering better public understanding of the relationship between birds of prey and healthy ecosystems. For more information on the Blackland Prairie Raptor Center, please visit www.bpraptorcenter.org.

Throughout the summer the Library will host other Summer Reading Club events. The summer event series is generously sponsored by Christine McKenny and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate.
