The Highland Park Library and Highland Park Department of Public Safety (HPDPS) have rescheduled the community hero extravaganza for Friday, July 17 in Prather Park at 10:00 a.m. Prather Park is located across the street from Highland Park Town Hall at the southeast corner of Drexel Drive and Euclid Avenue.
To promote the summer reading theme “Every Hero Has a Story” HPDPS officers will be present to meet with children and explain the various components of public safety. All aspects of public safety will be represented, and children may interact with police officers, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers and detectives. HPDPS will have a fire engine on display so children will get an up close and personal tour of firefighting and rescue equipment. In addition to meeting HPDPS officers, children will participate in a series of fun, educational, and informative crafts designed by Highland Park Library staff to complement the theme of the Summer Reading Club.
The summer reading event series is generously sponsored by Christine McKenny and Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate. For more information about the Highland Park Library Summer Reading Club and its special events, click here or call the Library at 214-559-9400.
