The Town Council and Employees of the Town of Highland Park want to invite all of you to join us as we kick-off the holiday season by lighting the Landmark Pecan Tree on Thursday, December 2nd. We will gather at the location of 4202 Armstrong Parkway for festivities, and sweet treats. The event begins at 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. At approximately 7:00 p.m., Mayor Goodwin will introduce guests and invite the HP High School choir to lead attendees in a round of carols. Then the Mayor and her special guest, Santa Claus, will begin the count down to turn on the festive lights.
Please note that the block of Armstrong from Preston Road to Westway Avenue will be closed to traffic. Attendees will need to park along nearby streets and walk to the event site. Once there, enjoy a hot drink from the coffee bar or a Christmas Tree shaped waffle-on-a-sitck that is decorated in sugary deliciousness. The Photo Bus will be on hand for you and your friends or family to get commemorative photos. A few of the reindeer and elves will be visiting as well to add to the activities.
The HP Library will have activities for young guests, as well as paper and colors so that children my write their letters to Santa. Any letter that has a return address will receive a reply! Letters must be received by December 15 to ensure Santa has time to reply. Letters to Santa may also be dropped off at Town Hall, in the special North Pole mailbox, located just in front of the Library. Don't forget to put your return address!
HPCAN will be at the Tree Lighting collecting new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots program. Be sure to stop by the HPCAN table and drop off your donation. Toy collection boxes are also located at Town Hall and HPDPS Lobby until December 12.
Please be sure to watch the Town's website homepage and Twitter page in the case of inclement weather for that evening. We hope to see you there!
