The Highland Park Library now offers Merge Cubes, which are specialized cubes that use a form of augmented reality to allow users to manipulate the real world with the digital. The cubes rely on corresponding free Merge EDU apps, available for Apple and Android devices, and are great for kids ages 5+. Users can explore a galaxy in the palm of their hand, hold fossils and ancient artifacts, explore a DNA molecule, investigate the Earth’s core, hold and share their own 3D creations, and more. View video tutorials for using Merge Cubes.
Library cardholders may check out a kit that includes a Merge Cube and laminated user guide, packaged in a convenient tote. The Merge Cube kits were made possible by funding from the Highland Park Quality of Life Foundation.
Highland Park Library cards are free for residents of the Town of Highland Park. People may apply for a library card online, by phone, or in person during Library business hours, Tuesday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Library is located in the Highland Park Town Hall at 4700 Drexel Drive.
