All ages. Registration not required.
The Highland Park Library invites you to join us at Fairfax Park for a viewing of the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse! Bring your camping chairs and chat with family and friends while waiting for the eclipse to reach totality, which will occur at approximately 1:40 p.m. Please plan ahead, per the NASA website:
When watching the solar eclipse...you must look through safe solar viewing glasses (“eclipse glasses”) or a safe handheld solar viewer at all times. Eclipse glasses are NOT regular sunglasses; regular sunglasses, no matter how dark, are not safe for viewing the Sun. Safe solar viewers are thousands of times darker and ought to comply with the ISO 12312-2 international standard.
Attendees can stroll along an eclipse themed StoryWalk®, spin a wheel to win a prize, or choose from 4 crafts to make in celebration of this celestial event.
Attendees will receive one (1) complimentary pair of eclipse glasses, while supplies last. For tips and information about safely viewing the Solar eclipse, please visit NASA's website.
This event is possible through partnership with the Highland Park's Department of Public Safety and Parks Department. In the event of inclement weather, this event will be cancelled.
