  2. HP Library Closes at 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 5

    December 5, 5:30 PM - 9:00 PM


    The Highland Park Harvey R. "Bum" Bright Library will close at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 5. Please join us at the Town's Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony on Armstrong Parkway at its intersection with Preston Road. The Library will reopen on Friday, December 6 at 9:30 a.m.


    You can still check out downloadable materials through the Library’s website. Also, you can access online databases on the Library’s website.


    You may return library materials to the book drop on St. Johns Drive. For more information, please visit www.hplibrary.info or call 214-559-9400 Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  1. Tree Lighting Ceremony

    December 5, 6:00 PM @ 4200 Armstrong Parkway

    The Town of Highland Park will hold the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony for the pecan tree on Armstrong Parkway at its intersection with Preston Road, on Thursday, December 5, at 6:00 p.m. This year, come enjoy a live reindeer, face painting, and a Photobus. These events begin at 6:00 PM. At 7:00 PM, the tree lighting ceremony begins with Highland Park Mayor Margo Goodwin will turn on the 5,000 red, blue, orange, and green Christmas lights at that time. The lights will be on each night through New Year’s Day. The Highland Park High School Lads and Lassies, directed by Natalie Walker, will sing Christmas carols during the ceremony. As in past years, Santa Claus will make a special appearance.
