PROPOSED ZONING CHANGES

TITLE

Proposed amendments to the Town's Zoning Ordinance related to Single-Family building sites in "C", "D", and "E" Zoning Districts, Two-Family building sites in the "F" Zoning District, and Multi-Family building sites in the "G" Zoning District.

BACKGROUND

In March 2008, the Town Zoning Commission began a review of the zoning ordinance at the request of the Town Council. The Commission has concentrated its review on the size and mass of structures and parking requirements. Other areas of concern will be considered in phase 2 of this process. On June 4, 2008, the Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing to receive public input on the amendments being considered. After receiving public testimony and adjusting the proposed amendments accordingly, the Zoning Commission made a recommendation to the Town Council.

CHANGES APPROVED - PHASE 1

On November 12, 2008 at 4:00 PM, the Town Council conducted a public hearing to receive public input on the proposed zoning changes. The Town Council approved the recommended changes to the Zoning Ordinance on January 26, 2009, with an effective date of March 1, 2009.  The approved amendments, the current zoning ordinance, and the zoning map are each available for download from the following links:

PHASE 2 - Zoning Review

The Zoning Commission conducted a public hearing on May 25, 2010 to review zoning amendments for Phase 2 of the review of the Town's zoning regulations.  The Commission is recommending approval to the Town Council, who will meet on June 14 to receive their recommendation referral.  The Town Council will conduct a public hearing on Monday, June 28, 2010 at 4:00 PM  in the Town Council Chambers, 2nd floor of Town Hall, to receive public testimony and act on the proposed changes.
