Stormwater Drainage
The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implements federal laws designed to promote public health by protecting our water, air and soil from pollutants. The Clean Water Act, the cornerstone of the EPA's surface water quality protection, mandates the cleanup of pollution from storm water which drains into rivers, lakes and streams.

These federal regulations are unfunded, which means that each city must pay to meet the federal requirements. In accordance with EPA regulations, the Town's storm water drainage system protects the public health and safety from loss of life and property caused by surface water overflows, surface water stagnation and pollution arising from non-point source runoff.

The drainage fee that is included on your utility bill is the mechanism by which the Town funds its storm water drainage system.
