Wednesday is recyclable collection day for all addresses in Highland Park.
- Please place your recycling container out by 7:00 a.m. on Wednesdays
- Please place your recycling container in the alley or at the curb if you do not have a paved alley
- If your recycling day falls on a holiday, save your recyclable items for the next collection day. Holidays observed are New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day.
What can be recycled?
- Paper - newspapers, magazines, junk mail, shredded paper (if raining please place in a plastic bag, wet paper cannot be recycled)
- Cardboard - boxes, food and beverage containers
- Plastics - marked 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, & 7. Please rinse and remove lids. Containers may be crushed to conserve space.
- Aluminum and Metal - food and beverage cans, empty aerosol cans. Please rinse before placing in recycling bin.
- Glass - clear, brown, and green food and beverage bottles. Please rinse and remove lids.

- Hard cover books
- Carbon paper
- Plastic bags
- Plastic wrap, bags, toys or plastic bottles used for automotive or other hazardous materials
- Scrap metal
- Paint cans
- Automotive product cans
- Disposable aluminum pie tins and containers
- Light bulbs, plate glass, auto glass, tempered glass, mirrors, ceramics, or any glass that is not a food or beverage bottle
