Capital Improvements

The Town of Highland Park has a number of capital improvement projects under design or construction.  For more information about future construction, contact the Engineering Department at 214-521-4161.

Current Projects
Note: This list is subject to change based on priority and budgetary needs:

3500-3700 Blocks of Euclid Avenue Alley Rehabilitation
The project is designed to replace the aged water and sewer lines in the alley after completion of the gas main replacement by ATMOS Energy. New concrete will be placed in the alley after completion. The Town's contractor will be moving into the 3700 block beginning October 24, 2016. Update: the project is going well with the placement of concrete in the 3600 block. Utility crews are working in the 3700 block.

Douglas Park Drainage Improvement
The project began in November with the installation of a new storm sewer line from Armstrong Pkwy. into Douglas Park for the relief of standing water in the park. The project should last through the holidays.

Exall Lake Dredging
Work which included the removal of accumulated sediment at a few locations has been completed.
Moss Monster is in the cleanup stages and the park will be restored.

Miscellaneous Concrete Spot Repairs 2016 (Annual contract, Ongoing)
Concrete Repairs for Street Rehabilitation 2016. The project has begun in the 3100 block of Drexel Drive.  Notices shall be distributed to residents in the project area. The project will include replacement of sidewalk, curb and gutter, and street pavement repairs along various streets in the Town. After completion, new asphalt will be placed on the streets.

Upcoming Projects

4600 Blocks of S. Versailles Avenue, Lorraine Avenue, and Belclaire Avenue Alley Rehabilitation
The project is designed to replace the aged water and sewer lines in the alley after completion of the gas main replacement by ATMOS Energy. New concrete will be placed in the alley after completion.

3500-3700 Blocks of Armstrong Avenue and Crescent Avenue Alley Rehabilitation
The project is designed to replace the aged water and sewer lines in the alley after completion of the gas main replacement by ATMOS Energy. New concrete will be placed in the alley after completion.

Completed Projects

Mockingbird Lane at Abbott Avenue Intersection Improvements &
Mockingbird Lane at Abbott Avenue Signal Light Improvements
The project is located at the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Abbott Avenue / Bishop Avenue. Repairs will be done to the existing intersection concrete. After repairs have been made, a new layer of asphalt will be placed on this section of Mockingbird Lane. The project should take approximately three to four weeks to complete. During the construction phase of the project, two way traffic will be maintained along Mockingbird Lane. Abbott Ave at the intersection will be closed to thru traffic.

Preston Road Rehabilitation
The project is located on Preston Road from Beverly Drive to Armstrong Parkway. Repairs will be done to sidewalk, curb and    gutter, and street pavement. After repairs have been made, a new layer of asphalt will be placed on this section of Preston Road. The project should take approximately three to four months to complete. During the construction phase of the project, two way traffic will be maintained along Preston Road.
