Town Council Considers the Zoning for Bradfield Elementary

Following over two hours of hearing residents’ comments and an hour of Town Council discussion, the zoning ordinance for rebuilding of Bradfield was approved with the District required to participate in an architectural peer review with the Town.

HOW DO I FIND A COPY OF THE ZONING ORDINANCE FOR BRADFIELD ELEMENTARY?
You may click here to view the ordinance.

SUMMARY OF BRADFIELD ELEMENTARY’S ZONING APPROVAL
Prior to approving the zoning ordinance on April 9, 2018, the Town Council read and listened to residents’ suggestions and concerns about the Highland Park Independent School District’s plans to raze and rebuild the 92-year-old Bradfield Elementary School.  In considering the views and feedback from the community, the zoning request was approved but requiring the District to participate in an architectural peer review.

WHAT IS AN ARCHITECTURAL PEER REVIEW?
The peer review process provides an opportunity for the Town and District architects to work in a partnership anticipated to lead to an improved building design.  A report of the architects’ findings will be provided to the Town and District.  You may read more about Mr. Windham, the Town’s consulting architect, by clicking here

WHEN WILL THE PEER REVIEW BE COMPLETE?
The work of the two architects is expected to be complete in the next several weeks.

HOW DO I STAY INFORMED ABOUT THE ARCHITECTS WORK?
You may check here, under Town News, for any Town updates to the architects’ peer review.
